2011 SCYSA Scholar Athlete Recipients
Hello Wildcats and Grizzlies!
I am coordinating the 2011 Scholar Athlete Program for the Santa Clarita Youth Sports Association. This is an exciting program where your child will be able to earn a scholastic patch at the end of the season if they have a minimum 3.3 GPA or higher or comparable grade equivalent (for those that do not use GPA requirements in school yet).
One of the great things about SCYSA football & cheer is that the organization encourages our children to think beyond football to their school work and families. We hear that “football is a privilege, not a right”, and it is stressed to do well in school and to respect parents and siblings.
We will be handing out Scholar Athlete Submission Forms through your team manager or cheer director in mid-September.
For students NOT on a GPA system, the player/cheerleader needs to take the form to their teacher and have them fill it out completely, if they qualify.
For older students in Jr. High, attaching a copy of the current report card or progress report will suffice, as long as the GPA calculates to a 3.3 or higher. Just make sure your application form is completely filled out and stapled to a COPY of your grades. You can printout grades online if you don’t have a report card prior to the Oct 20th deadline.
All scholar athlete patches will be handed out at the end of the season during the award banquets.
DEADLINE: All Team Managers will be submitting them to Erin El-Farra on Oct 20th (Thurs).
